Time Capsule is a time-locked memory vault application designed with privacy and security as our top priorities. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use Time Capsule.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Important: Time Capsule is designed to be privacy-first. We do NOT collect:

• Your capsule content, letters, or messages
• Your photos or voice memos
• Personal information (name, email, phone)
• Usage analytics or tracking data
• Device identifiers or advertising data
• Location information
• Contacts or calendar data

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

All your sensitive data is stored locally on your device using Core Data with AES-256-GCM encryption. This means:

• Your capsules never leave your device
• Data is encrypted at rest using military-grade AES-256-GCM encryption
• Only you have access to your encrypted data
• We use zero-knowledge architecture - we cannot access your data even if we wanted to

Time-Lock Encryption

Time Capsule uses advanced time-lock encryption to ensure your capsules remain sealed until the specified date:

• Encryption keys are derived using time-based key derivation
• Keys are stored securely in iOS Keychain
• Content cannot be decrypted before the scheduled open date

4. App Permissions and Usage

Time Capsule requests minimal permissions necessary for core functionality:

Face ID / Touch ID
Used for secure and convenient authentication to access your capsules. Biometric data never leaves your device and is processed by Apple's secure enclave.

Photo Library Access
Used only for attaching photos to your capsules. We only access photos you explicitly select. No images are stored or transmitted outside your device.

Microphone Access
Used only for recording voice memos to attach to your capsules (Premium feature). Audio is processed and encrypted locally on your device.

Notifications
Used to remind you when your capsules are ready to open. Notification content is processed locally.

5. Third-Party Services

Time Capsule does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not share any data with third parties.

6. Data Retention

Your data remains on your device until you choose to delete it. You have complete control over your data:

• Delete individual capsules at any time (after they're opened)
• Delete all your data through app settings
• Locked capsules remain until their open date

7. Children's Privacy

Time Capsule is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will immediately delete it.

8. Security Measures

We implement multiple layers of security to protect your data:

• Encryption: AES-256-GCM encryption for all stored data
• Authentication: Biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID)
• Local Processing: All sensitive operations happen on your device
• Time-Lock: Cryptographic time-lock prevents early access
• Keychain: Encryption keys stored in iOS Keychain
• Regular Updates: Security patches and updates

9. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can access all your data at any time through the app
• Correction: You can edit capsules before they are locked
• Deletion: You can delete any or all of your data
• Control: You control what features and permissions to enable

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted in this page with an updated effective date. We will not make changes that reduce your privacy protections without your consent.
